The CW Network has given Family Law, the Canadian legal drama starring Jewel Staite from Firefly fame, another season.

Season 1

Abby finds herself trying to balance both professional and personal responsibilities as she attempts to find justice for a client with an explosive story. Additionally, Abby and her team deal with the death of one client and uncovering of an affair while Abby’s sister battles cancer head-on and remains determined in her fight.

Season 2

Family Law, the Canadian legal drama series produced by Corus Entertainment and currently airing on The CW in America, was renewed for Season 2. Abby faces challenges finding her place within the practice as well as dealing with an emotionally charged case involving a debt-ridden widow who may have staged her own suicide – an experience which challenges Abby’s beliefs regarding forgiveness.

Family Law will return for Season 3 sometime between now and 2024 on The CW; however, its US broadcast may be postponed until then as they typically wait until its Canadian run has concluded before purchasing it.

Family Law’s return has not yet been officially confirmed by The CW; however, we expect it to return sometime this summer and to appear on its acquisition-heavy schedule as before. Family Law should likely return at approximately the same time of day each day as last year.

This compelling drama was set in downtown Vancouver and followed Abigail Bianchi, a lawyer who overcame her alcoholism to join her father’s firm as an associate attorney. Viewers got a glimpse into Abigail’s struggle between personal demons and family law complexities while she also explored her relationships with both of her estranged fathers as well as her two half-siblings.

Family Law was renewed for another season on The CW despite low ratings in 2022, with plans to air its ten-episode run this summer – likely on Friday nights.
