Law School is an engaging drama that explores the complex relationship between law and morality. The series follows students at Hankuk University as they grapple with real-life cases beyond textbook knowledge.
Professor Yang becomes the prime suspect when one of his professors is murdered during a mock trial, prompting students and professors to work together to uncover the truth about this tragic event.
The Story
Kim Myung-min plays Professor Yang Jong-hoon, a former prosecutor turned rigorous law professor. He avoids small talk and designs difficult exams designed to test students on legal knowledge – though his tough exterior conceals a kind heart; for example defending student Jeon Ye-seul from Assemblyman Go’s goons during a mock trial class.
Hankuk University of Law Faculty and Students work together to investigate Professor Yang as the main suspect in his fellow professor’s murder, with Han Joon-hwi as their lead witness and witness in this investigation. Han Joon-hwi stands out among them with consistently receiving top grades as a first year student who is also the nephew of the murdered professor – this keeps audiences guessing! Ryu Hye-young plays Sol A, her twin sister with hidden motives who keeps audiences guessing until its premiere on March 26 at 10pm KST with over 1.5 million viewers watching!
Kang Sol A
Kang Sol A is new to the legal world, yet she displays incredible intellect. She studies law with an aptitude for justice; although coming from an impoverished family and having difficulty passing the exams for law school; however, Professor Yang befriended and mentored her and helped her excel.
His assessments and intelligence make him a formidable opponent to students trying to go beyond their limits but remain within legal guidelines. Sol A learns from him how to play law as well. There is some romantic tension between them but this never fully materialises due to all the other interesting characters who share stories and struggles of their own; with every character holding their own secret history that it takes the audience some time and analysis before unraveling all truth behind any incident that arises in the film.
Kim Eun Sook
Kim Eun-sook is an accomplished writer who first found success writing for film with Fly High (2006). After returning to television with Law School – an intriguing drama that takes viewers inside law schools and their students – Kim made her mark again as an author and screenwriter.
Professor Yang (Kim Myung-min), a criminal law professor who once served as a prosecutor, stands out in this film as an outstanding character. Although Professor Yang exudes an air of severity as a teacher, his true nature lies within caring about seeing each one of his students succeed and excel.
Han Joon-hwi, an outstanding first-year student and nephew of murdered professor Seo Byung-joo, begins to suspect himself of murder while working hard to discover the truth. While doing this he forms close ties and even romantic tension with Kang Sol A, an ambitious civil law student. Her past history of wrongly accused family members fuels her ambition of becoming a lawyer herself.
Assemblyman Ko
Ash Kalra has served as Assemblymember of California’s 57th District since 2016. A staunch proponent of single-payer health care and minority rights, he earned both his undergraduate degree from University of California Santa Barbara and law degree from Georgetown University.
Kang Sol A is working hard to pass her exams, yet is finding herself struggling against Assemblyman Ko. However, she knows exactly how she can bring down Assemblyman Ko and succeed with that strategy.
Although she initially doubted Professor Yang, Ye-seul ultimately came to trust and follow his advice. Assemblyman Go wanted Professor Seo dead because he suspected Assemblyman Go of involvement in an earlier hit-and-run accident; Lee Man-ho had actually been hired by Assemblyman Go to murder Professor Seo so as to prevent Professor Seo from seeing his son again; in return he planted a hidden camera in Ye-seul’s dorm room to monitor any dating violence that might happen between dates.
