Fordham Law students enjoy access to all that New York City has to offer, with their school located adjacent to Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and just two blocks from iconic Central Park.

Many students choose to supplement their Legal Writing course by joining a voluntary Moot Court Board that hosts two intra-school competitions annually, along with student organizations devoted to pro bono and public interest work.

Admissions

Students follow an intensive curriculum designed to balance intellectual and practical skills, with an emphasis on ethics and public service. Fordham Law School provides both full-time day and part-time evening programs, making it convenient for working professionals to pursue legal studies while continuing with their careers. All applicants must submit a personal statement, two letters of recommendation, academic transcripts and personal references for review by Fordham’s admissions staff. LSAC Credential Assembly Service can help international students have their transcripts sent directly from their home country to Fordham Law School.

As part of their initial curriculum, all first year students are required to take six core courses: civil procedure contracts, constitutional law, criminal law, property, and torts. In addition they also take regulatory and legislative process courses as well as an introduction course on legal writing and research. These core classes serve as the cornerstone for their studies while giving them opportunities to explore individual interests within an expansive subject area.

After finishing their first year, upper-level students can select from an extensive course selection at law school. Furthermore, they may opt to select one of five predesigned concentrations in business law, intellectual property law, international law litigation or public interest for deeper knowledge in these fields as well as clinical or field placement experiences that enhance practical skill acquisition.

Fordham University’s application deadline for the 2022-2023 school year is October 15. Applicants can submit their applications through LSAC online and must include an official letter of recommendation from either their current or previous professor, resume/CV and two double-spaced pages of personal statement writing. Taking either LSAT or GRE tests are highly encouraged – choose which best matches your strengths and weaknesses when making this decision. Fordham accepts both scores and encourages taking both exams if possible.

Financial Aid

Fordham Law School provides generous financial aid packages based on demonstrated need. Students are strongly encouraged to seek outside scholarships through bar associations, civic associations and employer foundations as well as federal programs – not forgetting New York City and state grants that might also apply. Fordham Law’s curriculum is challenging yet manages to strike a balance between theoretical coursework and hands-on lawyering opportunities. Courses cover both required and electives taught by professors who specialize in their fields; first year programs offer many specialized electives focused on business law, constitutional law and international law – as well as tutoring services for additional support if necessary.

Their ABA-approved LL.M program can be taken full time over two semesters but part-time options may also be made available so students may still keep working while studying at Fordham while taking courses full time over two semesters with applications accepted on an ongoing basis; applicants should begin collecting materials early.

Getting Started

Fordham Law’s program can be an arduous journey, but with proper preparation and an exceptional application you can successfully navigate it. Previous students averaged an LSAT score of 167 and GPA of 3.73; to increase your odds of admission you should aim to perform similarly on these tests. Start studying early by making an individualized LSAT study schedule based on your diagnostic score; additionally, seek support from professors or professional contacts who can vouch for your academic abilities and character as letters of reference.
